In the News...

On Wednesday, February 27th, Assistant Director Carol Osgood, and four members of the Family Matters Class travelled to Annapolis to speak on behalf of funding for adult literacy programs before the Maryland Senate (Bill #737 'Adult Education and Literacy Services Act').

Accompanying Ms. Osgood was Cynthia Curtis, Desiree Fair, April Homer and Doris Loving. Each of the students had an opportunity to address teh Senate membership and tell her personal story. Ms. Osgood also addressed the Senators, telling them that even "...if all the current people seeking literacy services were met, we would not see the end of the problem because each year in Baltimore more than 4,000 high school students drop out."

On Tuesday, March 5th, Ms. Osgood, volunteer Tom Cotter, students Jesse Lynch, Gladys Wilson, Doris Loving, Shyann Drafts, Betty Cloud, Brenda Moss, Ann Langdon, and tutor Gloria Browne attended the State House Committee for Budget and Taxation for House funding of adult literacy services.
